StoryCorps sessions are a great way to capture your organizational or community history. By collaborating with StoryCorps, you can offer people an authentic and sometimes transformative experience with each other and with your organization.

Companies, organizations, and institutions can now sponsor the construction of a StoryBooth on site. StoryBooths are recording booths that can be installed in existing rooms at institutions, and are outfitted as “sacred” StoryCorps recording spaces. The StoryBooth itself is leased for a year at a time.

StoryCorps provides

  • Copies all of interviews recorded at the StoryBooth, for the purposes of creating a local archive in the community.
  • A StoryCorps Facilitator team to staff the StoryBooth.
  • Ongoing project supervision and support for the duration of the StoryBooth lease.
  • Signage and other promotional and marketing materials.
  • Customizable grant templates and corporate sponsorship package templates to help the StoryBooth partner secure funding, if necessary.
  • One copy of each interview for the participants, with an additional copy archived locally at the partner institution.
  • Transfer and archiving for the collection at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
  • Access to StoryCorps’ online reservation system and customer support.
  • Up to five polished excerpts from interviews recorded at the StoryBooth, edited by the award-winning StoryCorps production staff.

In addition to funding, the StoryBooth Partner agrees to provide:

  • An appointed StoryBooth Liaison who will be responsible for communicating with our StoryBooth Coordinator for the duration of the partnership.
  • A quiet and secure room to house the StoryCorps recording studio (at least 15′ x 15′) with a second space to serve as a modest reception area.
  • Visibility within your institution, including signage, promotion, website presence, etc.
  • Outreach and marketing within your community to ensure a large and diverse participant pool.
  • The necessary resources to maintain a relationship with your local public radio station, which will be your media partner on the project.
  • A commitment to adhere to corporate sponsorship guidelines and restrictions, and to recognize StoryCorps’ national sponsor(s) where required.
  • A commitment to adhere to StoryCorps standards and mission, and to protect the integrity of the project.

Bringing a StoryBooth to your local institution is the perfect way to ensure that your local history is captured and shared for generations to come. Long after the StoryBooth itself is gone, you will have an archive of all of the interviews that took place there - a snapshot of your community at a particular time.

StoryBooths are fully sponsored by the partner institution. The cost of bringing a StoryBooth to your community for one year is $175,000. StoryCorps accepts applications for StoryBooth partnerships on a rolling basis. We are currently considering applications for late 2008 and 2009.
