During the spring semesters of 2006 and 2007, students from the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program at ACORN Community High School took part in workshops conducted by StoryCorps and then participated in interviews at the New York City StoryBooths.

To date, ACORN Community High School students have completed over seventy StoryCorps interviews, with plans for more in the 2007?2008 school year.

a project to affect EVERY student at EVERY level?whether it be a developmental

Resources for schools outside New York City

We are currently unable to accommodate school groups on the Mobile Tour or via our StoryKit Program, but numerous institutions and organizations have used
StoryCorps as an educational resource. Here are some options for bringing StoryCorps into your classroom:

  • Tie StoryCorps into your lessons.
  • Use our website as a resource.
  • Listen to excerpts of interviews.
  • Record interviews on your own, using tips from our Do-It-Yourself guide.

Please note: If you decide to record interviews on your own, these interviews cannot be included in the StoryCorps Archive at the Library of Congress.
