What are the stories of your community?
In 2006, StoryCorps launched New York City Outreach. This initiative works out of our national headquarters in Brooklyn, New York and partners with New York City-based community groups, institutions, and organizations to bring groups of new participants to record their stories.
We focus particularly on communities that might have barriers to access and communities from diverse backgrounds. We provide:
- Broadcast quality recordings
- Archiving of recordings at the Library of Congress
- Dedicated attention from StoryCorps Outreach Staff
- Presentations by StoryCorps Outreach Staff
- Special access to reservations
- Waiving of credit card requirement
- Signage and materials
