New York City is home to two permanent StoryBooths, one in Grand Central Terminal and one in Lower Manhattan at Foley Sqaure. Reservations are open now through June 30. We will begin accepting reservations for July on May 15.

The Lower Manhattan StoryBooth (above left) is located in New York City’s Foley Square on Centre Street between Worth and Duane streets, across from the U.S. Courthouse. Map and directions below.

Reservations
NOTE: We’ve opened up more reservation times at Grand Central Terminal, so this is your last chance to do an interview there before its closing on May 17. And reservations for the Lower Manhattan StoryBooth are filling up fast, so you can join our waiting list by calling 646-723-7027. - Log in to our reservation system. First-time visitors can create a free account. We will ask for your email address, which is used only to send a reminder when you make a reservation. We will also ask for a credit card number to reserve your appointment. We will not charge your card unless you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice. Cancellation policy is explained in detail below. To make an appointment without an email address and credit card, please call 800-850-4406.
- Find a day and time that works for you and your interview partner.
Please remember, all participants must be 10 years or older. If there
are no times available, please keep checking back in case of
cancellations. You will only have to register the first time, so to
check back you simply sign in and look for open reservations.
- Pledge a donation. StoryCorps is a free public service, but we do ask for donations to help cover our costs and keep StoryCorps accessible to all. We suggest $10, but you can contribute as much or as little as you wish. Donations are processed at the StoryBooth after your interview.

Foley Square is located above City Hall Park in downtown Manhattan on Centre Street between Duane and Worth streets, across from the U.S. Courthouse.
Public Transportation
Subway:
Take the 4, 5, or 6 line to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Take the 1, 2,
3, J, M, or Z line to Chambers Street. Take the R or W line to City
Hall.
Bus: Take the M1, M6, M15, M22, M103, or the B51 to City Hall.
Grand Central Terminal StoryBooth
Grand Central Terminal (map above left) is in midtown Manhattan, at Forty-second Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue.
The entrance to Grand Central Terminal that is closest to the StoryBooth is
through the Bank of America Plaza on Forty-third Street at Madison Avenue. Walk
through the doors, down the stairs, and you’ll be in the Biltmore Room. This entrance is closed on the weekends.
Another nearby entrance is at the corner of Forty-second Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. Go down
the ramp, pass the Station Master’s office on your left, and follow
signs to the Biltmore Room. This entrance is wheelchair accessible.
Public Transportaion
Subway: Take the 4, 5, 6, 7, or S line to Forty-second Street.
Bus: Take the M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M42, M98, M101, M102, M104, or Q32 to Grand Central Terminal.
Wheelchair Accessibility
The Grand Central Terminal and Lower Manhattan StoryBooths are fully wheelchair accessible.
Enter Grand Central on Lexington Avenue (through the
Graybar Passage) or on Forty-second Street (at the corner of Park Avenue).
Cancellation policy
You can cancel your appointment using the online reservation system, or by calling 800-850-4406. To cancel on the same day of your interview, you must call 646-723-7027. Due to the high volume of calls we are unable to call back individuals about cancellations.
There is no charge for cancellation unless you cancel with less than 24 hours’ advance notice. Because we are unable to fill that time slot on such short notice, we will charge $25 to the credit card used to make your reservation.
History
The Lower Manhattan StoryBooth was launched in July of 2005 on the concourse of the World Trade Center PATH station. We celebrated its reopening on April 3, 2008 at its new location in Foley Square. Read the press release about the opening event.
The Grand Central Terminal StoryBooth was our very first. It opened on October 23, 2003. On February 10, 2006, this StoryBooth was dedicated to Danny and Annie Perasa.
