If we’re not in a location near you, we’ve put together several ways for you to record your story at home, at a family gathering, or where ever you can find a quiet private space.
Participate in the Memory Loss Initiative
If you, your loved ones, or your organization participate in our Memory Loss Initiative, arrangements will be made for our trained staff and/or equipment to record these stories at your convenience, free of charge.
Rent a StoryKit
We have a limited number of portable recording equipment packages available for rent through our StoryKit program. These packages accommodate 1-4 individual interviews of 40 minutes each, and since they are recorded on our special equipment, these interviews can be issued to you to you in CD form, included in StoryCorps archive at the Library of Congress, and be considered for broadcast on public radio.
Sponsor a Door-to-Door on-site recording day
If you have 8 or more people you would like to record in a day, or represent a group or organization with these needs, we can bring our trained staff and professional equipment to your site for a reasonable fee.
Use our Do-It-Yourself Guide
If you wish to use you own equipment, we cannot include these interviews as part of the StoryCorps program but we are happy to provide guidance on recording equipment basics, on how to interview and an interview checklist. These guides will help you create a valuable experience for those whose stories you wish to preserve.
