Kate Brown grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. At Wesleyan University she studied pop music, shopping malls, and Graceland, earning a B.A. in American Studies and Sociology. After two years working on dictionaries and encyclopedias (and padding her Trivial Pursuit record), she joined StoryCorps' Door-to-Door team. Kate lives in Brooklyn where she mostly bakes cupcakes for her kickball team.
