New York City Facilitators

Jenna Weiss-Berman was born and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts and moved to Brooklyn in 2005 after graduating from Oberlin College, where she was the proud station manager of WOBC, Oberlin’s college and community radio station. Jenna enjoys flowering trees, constitutional law, baby animals, and listening to the fascinating stories of StoryCorps participants.

Sarah Geis grew up in Chicago, land of Studs Terkel, Ira Glass, and Michael Jordan. After stints on the East coast, the West coast, and some places in between, she graduated from Reed College with a degree in English. Prior to becoming a facilitator, she was a StoryCorps Mobile intern.

Milwaukee Based Facilitators

Becky Homann grew up a total nerd in Rochester, NY, and now lives outside Milwaukee. She is a creative writing student at Marquette University and a round-the-clock mom. When there’s a moment of peace, she can most likely be found watching baseball or whining about the lack of chocolate in the house.

Erik Schoster moved to Milwaukee a few months before becoming a facilitator, and has found StoryCorps to be the best possible way to get to know a new city. When not in the booth, Erik spends his time wrangling sound with Max/MSP and running a community arts project (www.luvsound.org) with his friend Kevin Gipson.

Hilary Marshall is an Illinois native and graduate of North Park University. She fills her weekly commute from Chicago to the Milwaukee StoryBooth with audio books and the jam band mixes her brother keeps leaving in her car. The rest of her time is spent as a caregiver for older adults/the differently-abled and a hoarder of fabric scraps, skeins of yard, iconography, and plants galore. She likes documenting everything and reading comic books.

Janet Frey has retired from 32 years of teaching English in Milwaukee Public Schools and is now gleefully spending time cheering her son through law school, reading, knitting, traveling, tap dancing and listening at the Milwaukee StoryBooth. This is the life!
