Our first two MobileBooths - traveling recording studios housed in Airstream trailers - launch from the Library of Congress. By the close of 2007, they will have recorded stories in more than 70 cities in 46 states.

Our second StoryBooth opens in New York City, with a special initiative to remember the people affected by the events of September 11, 2001.

The third StoryBooth opens in Milwaukee. Just months later, Nashville welcomes the fourth.

The StoryCorps Griot Initiative launches a third MobileBooth to collect the stories of thousands of African Americans, the largest oral history project of its kind since the WPA Slave Narratives of the 1930s.

StoryCorps receives a rare institutional Peabody Award, the highest honor in broadcast journalism.

The first-ever StoryCorps book, Listening Is an Act of Love, and its companion CD are released by The Penguin Press and featured at Starbucks.
