Position Overview:

StoryCorps’ mission is to honor and celebrate one another’s lives through listening. The Manager of Administration will provide oversight of the legal and administrative systems within the office. This includes the monitoring of contract compliance, and ensuring the smooth daily operations of the office. The Manager of Administration will work closely with the COO and the Office Manager to ensure that such systems satisfy the needs of the local office as well as those of off-site locations. The Manager of Administration coordinates with external legal counsel around the execution of contracts as well as the ongoing monitoring. This position also supervises the Office Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee contract administration with StoryCorps partners, funders, and vendors
  • Draft agreements pertaining to the activities and partnerships maintained by StoryCorps
  • Liaise with outside attorneys on legal matters; act as primary point of contact for all internal legal questions
  • Handling all rights of use/permissions requests; when necessary, draft and administer licensing agreements
  • Ensure organizational compliance regarding intellectual property/licensing issues
  • Track usage of StoryCorps material and trademark
  • Management of Finance and Administration issues, both on-site and at off-site StoryBooths, etc., including overseeing insurance and other operations matters
  • Manage organizational projects with COO and others as needed
  • Primary liaison to building management on issues of facilities, repairs, etc.
  • Active management of Office Manager

Knowledge, Skills and qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in non-profit management or administration
  • Familiarity with managing projects, contracts, and other legal documents
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software
  • Proficiency on a Mac platform is preferred
  • Must be a proactive problem-solver; adaptive to growing, changing organization
  • Ability to multitask effectively, handling projects with multiple departments
  • Knowledge and experience with supervising staff a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required
