Manager, Information Technology Unit
Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration
The Information Technology (IT) Manager will direct and coordinate the activities and operations of IT for 70+ users in a Mac OS X networked environment. Actively champions the enabling role that IT plays in achieving organizational goals and mission. The IT Manager reports to the Director, Finance and Administration. The IT Manager role is a part-time (3-days per week) position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure effectiveness and security of systems and applications
- Manage Storycorps’ current technology
- Develop a strong disaster recovery plan with appropriate redundancy systems
- Maintain accurate and current records for hardware inventory, software licensing, network configuration, problem resolution, and repair work
- Manage structured cabling system and physical network and all components of network infrastructure
- Manage all IT and third party software application support
- Research, and implement new technology projects to meet StoryCorps goals and objectives
- Create, document, and enforce IT policies and procedures
- Prepare and maintain procedure manuals and documentation for internal use
- Provide excellent, friendly customer support
- Manage technology helpdesk to ensure IT problems are properly documented, handled efficiently, and reported on accurately
- Develop budgets and monitor expenditures
- Train new hires on StoryCorps technology
- Assist department staff with vendor relations
- Supervise IT staff
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience in IT environment
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Availability for infrequent after-hours emergency maintenance
- Experience in managing staff
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree
- Extensive experience with Mac OS X desktop clients
- Solid experience with Mac Os X Server, Windows or Unix administration
- General Network Administration skills
- Strong background in TCP/IP, Firewalls, Routing, and DNS
- Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to staff and customers
- Strong troubleshooting methodology and analytical skills
- IT Architecture Design and Implementation
- Previous experience with managing technical projects and vendors
Preferred:
- Experience with Storage Area Networks configuration and setup desired.
- Experience in a large scale enterprise environment
- Network Engineering; advanced networks (including Layers 2, 4-7, and content switching) and server administration, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of PC Sound Editing tools and processes
