Become a StoryCorps Volunteer


At the StoryBooth

  • Participate in a StoryCorps interview.
  • Share your interview experience and interview or schedule other people to participate in an interview of their own.


In your community:

  • Bring in and/or interview members of your community.
  • Find long-time members of your community or interesting characters and interview them.
  • Share information about StoryCorps with organizations, groups, or communities that you are part of.
  • Help us to set up a partnership with an organization or group that you belong to.
  • Introduce StoryCorps to new neighborhoods.
  • Distribute brochures and information at events. Visit Share Stories for resources on our website.
  • Help us spread the word about StoryCorps and our new book and CD.


At the StoryCorps office in Brooklyn:

  • Process interview materials in preparation for transfer to the StoryCorps Archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
  • Prepare mailings, information packets, etc.
  • Assist StoryCorps staff with daily tasks.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

StoryBooth Team Member: Organize and/or interview people from organizations, groups, communities that you are apart of. Introduce StoryCorps to new neighborhoods and help build community partnerships by scheduling interviews for people new to StoryCorps.

StoryCorps Archive Volunteer: Prepare and process interview materials for transfer to the StoryCorps Archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Prepare documents and CDs for scanning and file extraction.
